This year marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). On November 21, a provincial high-profile conference was held in Jinhua to promote BRI cooperation. Yi Lianhong, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, delivered a keynote speech. Wang Hao, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Governor of Zhejiang Province, and Atabek Abylgaziev, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, addressed the conference. Also in attendance were Liu Jie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of Hangzhou; Xu Wenguang, Qiu Qiwen, and Tang Feifan. The conference was chaired by Lu Shan.
During the conference, a report on Zhejiang’s participation in the Belt and Road Initiative over the past decade and the list of key achievements in advancing the BRI were officially released. Twenty major international cooperation projects were signed on-site, including one by Zhejiang Jinlun Electromechanic Co., Ltd. (“Jinlun”).


He Jiandong, Chairman of the Board of Jinlun, stated: “Our hydropower equipment is now directly transported to Kyrgyzstan via China-Europe freight trains, which has significantly reduced delivery time and strengthened our confidence in going global”. At the event, Jinlun signed an agreement for a small hydropower project in Kyrgyzstan worth 188 million US dollars. Mr. He expressed full confidence, saying that Jinhua enterprises has get used to shipping goods abroad on the “Steel Camel Caravan” (a nickname for the China-Europe freight train).

During the conference, Atabek Abylgaziev, Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, highly praised the small hydropower project undertaken by Jinhua-based enterprise Jinlun. He stated that it is precisely because of the good infrastructure established between the two places that a number of outstanding enterprises and distinguished engineers from Jinhua have come to Kyrgyzsta, constructing BRI cooperation projects covering clean energy, equipment manufacturing, among others.

Prior to the conference, Mr. Abylgaziev and his delegation visited Jinlun and Shenke Holding Group. After the event concluded, Mr. Abylgaziev and his delegation once again visited Jinhua to hold in-depth discussions on cooperation projects.
